Stockholm-based packaging innovator Meadow has forged a strategic partnership with Novelis, the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, to enhance the sustainability of its MEADOW KAPSUL™ pre-fill aluminum packaging system.
Key Details of the Collaboration:
Circular Economy Boost: Novelis will supply recycled aluminum for Meadow’s packaging, leveraging its annual recycling of 2.3 million metric tons of aluminum scrap—equivalent to 84 billion used beverage cans.
Scalable Supply Chain: Novelis joins Meadow’s ecosystem of industry leaders (including Ball Corporation and DRT Holdings), ensuring reliable, large-scale production.
Innovation Focus: The partnership includes joint R&D to further reduce waste and improve circularity in consumer packaging.
Why It Matters:
Aluminum is infinitely recyclable without quality loss, with 75% of all produced aluminum still in use today. Recycling aluminum saves up to 95% energy vs. primary production, making it a cornerstone of sustainable packaging.
Leadership Insights:
Victor Ljungberg, CEO & Co-Founder of Meadow:
"Novelis’ expertise and scale accelerate our mission to eliminate linear packaging. This collaboration delivers one of the most circular solutions on the market."
Greg Schlicht, SVP & CCO of Novelis:

About the Companies:
Novelis: Operates 31 facilities across 9 countries, leading in flat-rolled aluminum and recycling.
Meadow: Its KAPSUL™ system minimizes packaging waste through smart pre-fill design, backed by major investors.
This partnership marks a pivotal step toward closing the loop in aluminum packaging, combining Novelis’ recycling prowess with Meadow’s innovative design.
